The Abbaye de Lehon pictured in my painting, Attiendre, will host an exhibition of paintings from the Musee de La Grande Vigne collection ~ including my painting!
I am sooooooooo excited!
I fell in love with the abbaye during my artist residency in Dinan France. Just down the road from Dinan, Lehon is a small village and home to the Medieval abbaye. It currently houses art exhibitions and a beautiful restored nave.
We went to view an art exhibition. I never dreamed my painting would be exhibited there!
The blend of Medieval architecture and contemporary art of the Abbaye de Lehon felt intriguing. I set to sketching the courtyard garden with its beautiful stone arches.
In my paintings, I explored this juxtaposition of organic growing vital contemporary and ancient structures of stone church history.
My willow charcoal lines form the structure of the art, while the washed oil glazes search for light and shadow, hue, and intensity.
